I have a confession. Instagram and Youtube are hindering my productivity.
Once I open these apps, I go down a rabbit hole, wasting hours and hours just consuming pretty pictures and/or funny videos.
I didn’t think it was an issue until recently, when I did some basic math to calculate that I spend about an hour to two hours on these apps, daily!
Even a conservative estimate meant that I spent 365 hours a year on these picture and video apps. In my defense, looking at pretty pictures makes me feel good and Youtube helps me keep up with current events, but who am I kidding?Read More »
I need to have background music when I’m working, writing, cooking, chilling, and even sleeping. In fact, the first thing I do when I get up in the morning is to turn on my stereo. The first thing I do when I come back home is to turn on TV.
Lately, I’ve been paying more attention to my productivity and I observed that I’m more focused and productive when I have pandora on versus youtube. With pandora, the station serves up similar music that often times, I don’t notice the music playing in the background.Read More »
In hopes of de-clutter my inbox, I started evaluating emails that bring me “joy” versus emails that “interrupt / disrupt” my day.
Most promotional emails from retailers and brands did not bring me “joy.” To de-clutter my inbox, I unsubscribed from
- various retailers (Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, West Elm, Crate & Barrel, Wayfair, Nordstroms, Wholefoods, Walgreens, etc.)
- electronic brands (Bose, Philips, etc) make-up and fashion brands (Kiko Milano, Estee Lauder, Madewell, Sephora, Ulta, Clarisonic, etc.)
